Vigilance Organisation Jammu (VOJ) here on Saturday booked a Tehsil Supply Officer and storekeeper for misappropriation of government ratin worth over Rs 50 lakh.
As per a press statement issued by VOJ, the food, civil supplies and consumer affairs (FCS&CA) department employees have been booked in case FIR number 32/2018 under section 5(1)(c)(d) read with section 5(2) J&K PC Act Svt 2006 and 409,120-B RPC at police station VOJ.
The statement said that the instant case was registered on the basis of joint surprise check (JSC) conducted in main store of FCS&CA in Rajouri and other places into the allegations pertaining to misappropriation of huge quantity of ration worth several lakh rupees received from the government for issuance to APL, BPL, and AAY categories.
“During the course of JSC, record was perused and on the spot physical verification of stores was also conducted and it came to fore that the TSO and storekeeper of the main store FCS&CA Rajouri, by misuse and abuse of their official position, in connivance and conspiracy with ration dealers, misappropriated subsidized government ration to the tune of Rs 50, 13,752.31 meant for the weaker sections of the society,” it said.
The press statement also said that the employees also fraudulently drawn an amount of Rs 3, 31, 558.83 as carriage, commission, unloading charges and caused total loss of Rs 53,45,311.14 to the State exchequer.
Accordingly, the VOJ registered a case under relevant sections of law and also conducted simultaneous raids with the help of local police, magistrates at the residences of accused persons in Rajouri, Kandi and office, store in Rajouri. During the process, cash worth Rs. 5 82, 000 was recovered from residence of storekeeper and some official record was also recovered from residence of TSO Rajouri.
All relevant record, suspicious documents which have been recovered from various locations are seized on spot in presence of independent witnesses. “Detailed and in-depth scrutiny of the seized record will be carried out during further course of investigation by sleuths of vigilance organization,” said the handout.
