Cold wave returns, Srinagar freezes at minus 5.7 degrees Celsius

Srinagar: Intense cold wave gripped Kashmir Saturday while the minimum temperatures plummeted several notches below the freezing point.
An MeT official said that the clear night sky led to the drop in minimum temperatures, adding that the weather is expected to remain dry during the next three days.
Kashmir’s capital city Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of minus 5.7 degrees Celsius, while Pahalgam and Gulmarg recorded a minus of 12.7 and minus 14.4, respectively.
Leh recorded a minus of 15.0 degrees Celsius, Kargil minus 19.4 and Drass minus 26.8 as their minimum temperatures.
