A Class 7 student allegedly committed suicide in Delhi’s Inderpuri when her mother was away at work. She scribbled her teacher’s name on her palm and hands and wrote that she did not want to go to her school anymore. A suicide note has also been recovered, the police said.
Daisy Rathore, 12, was found hanging from the ceiling fan at her home on December 1.
“On her palms and hands she wrote that she did not want to go to school any more. She apologised to her mother and grandmother and said she was going to meet Lord Krishna,” senior police officer Madhup Tiwari told news agency IANS.
Daisy was last seen alive by her mother Kamal Rathore, before leaving for the Tis Hazari Court where she is an advocate.
When she returned at 4 PM, she discovered her daughter’s lifeless body.
“My daughter complained that the teacher rebuked her every day. The same teacher rebuked and humiliated her on Friday for 10 minutes in the biology lab. She cried in the school bathroom after the episode,” Ms Rathore told news agency IANS.
“She had been insisting that I change her school but I did not know the extent of the crisis. I had not realised that she would commit suicide,” the mother said between sobs.
The school management in its statement said they are fully cooperating with the investigating authority and were also conducting an internal inquiry.
“As of now we are not at liberty to disclose any details which may jeopardise the police investigation of the case,” the statement said.
The girl’s autopsy report is awaited and the police said that they are recording the statements of her classmates. NDTV
